Coordination problems on networks revisited: statics and dynamics

چکیده
Simple binary-state coordination models are widely used to study collective socio-economic phenomena such as the spread of innovations or adoption products on social networks. The common trait these systems is occurrence large-scale events taking place abruptly, in form a cascade process, consequence small perturbations an apparently stable state. conditions for instabilities have been largely analysed literature, however same no sufficient attention was given relation between structural properties (Nash) equilibria and possible outcomes dynamical equilibrium selection. Using methods from statistical physics disordered systems, present work investigates both analytically numerically, Nash networks, focusing mostly random graphs. We provide accurate description properties, which then exploited shed light mechanisms behind onset coordination/miscoordination large This done studying most processes selection, best response, bounded-rational dynamics learning processes. In particular, we show that well beyond instability region, full still globally stochastically stable, selection with low stochasticity (e.g. response) strong memory effects reinforcement learning) can be prevented achieving by being trapped into (exponentially number agents) set locally at low/medium (inefficient equilibria). These results should useful allow better understanding general problems complex

Complex networks: Statics and Dynamics
We present some of the results obtained during the last 8 years about complex networks. Starting with the collection of data in the form of networks or graphs, we proceed on the characterization at different scales: microscopic, macroscopic, and mesoscopic. We introduce also the basic models incorporating complexity in the pattern of connectivities. Finally we review some results on dynamical f...
متن کاملEvolution and selection of river networks: statics, dynamics, and complexity.
Moving from the exact result that drainage network configurations minimizing total energy dissipation are stationary solutions of the general equation describing landscape evolution, we review the static properties and the dynamic origins of the scale-invariant structure of optimal river patterns. Optimal channel networks (OCNs) are feasible optimal configurations of a spanning network mimickin...
متن کاملRaypath statics revisited: new images
In previous work, we have shown that near-surface effects, principally static shifts, can be largely removed from seismic data using two novel concepts: finding and deconvolving ‘statics distribution functions’ from the traces; and transforming the input data to the radial trace domain, where near-surface effects can be separated by their dependence upon raypath angle. We have demonstrated our ...
متن کاملNeural statics and dynamics
A formal theory of systems was proposed previously as providing a quantitative basis for neural computation. This theory dictated the architectural aspects of a pyramidal-neuron system model including its operation, adaptation, and most importantly, its computational objective. The principal result was a perceptron architecture that, through adaptation, learns to ask a specific space–time quest...
متن کاملChemical Statics and Dynamics
This is one of the text-books of Physical Chemistry edited by Sir Willam Ramsay. It views chemistry from the standpoint of the explanation of its phenomena by the physical laws which govern appreciable weights of substances, and it is shown that they operate equally in the changes which take place between individual mollecules during chemical reaction. It is pleasant to find that sharp distinct...
